Moving to CoolPay from Stripe? You can transfer your donors' saved payment methods so recurring gifts keep running without asking donors to re-enter their card or bank details. Because this involves sensitive payment data, the transfer happens provider-to-provider, Stripe sends the data directly to CoolPay's payment provider, Justifi.
You request a data migration from Stripe. For security, the data is sent directly to the payment processor, never through you. Follow Stripe's guide:
• Stripe data migration request: https://support.stripe.com/questions/request-a-data-migration
Stripe will ask a few questions. Use these answers:
• What type of data migration can we assist you with? - "Export data out of Stripe to a third party."
• Which processor would you like to export data to? - Justifi
• What payment types would you like to export? - Cards & ACH
• Which file format would you prefer? - JSON
• Full set of customers or partial subset? - Full
• Any other information? - Include Justifi's transfer documentation link: https://docs.justifi.tech/api-spec#tag/Payment-Method-Migration
Stripe and Justifi coordinate the secure transfer directly. Once the tokens land in CoolPay, each migrated recurring gift still needs a staff member to review and approve it before it starts billing, see "Review and approve migrated recurring gifts" in Signing Up for CoolPay. If you have questions during the process, start a chat with our support team.
