When a donor gives through CoolPay, their bank or card statement shows a short charge description from our payment partner, JustiFi. That line is what donors (and their banks) use to recognize the gift. If it looks unfamiliar, some donors may think the charge is a scam or an error.
CoolPay charges appear with a JustiFi prefix, commonly starting with JFI*, followed by a short description for your organization.
Example shape (exact wording varies by bank and card network):
• JFI*YOUR CENTER NAME
• or a similar short line that includes JFI* plus a few words
Banks often truncate or reformat the line, so the same gift can look slightly different on a credit card statement vs a checking account.
JFI*JustiFi can customize everything after the JFI* prefix, as long as that custom part stays within 22 characters.
• The JFI* prefix stays (JustiFi / network requirement).
• Your custom text is what makes the charge recognizable to donors as your organization (for example a short center name or brand people already know).
• if you submit a request to change the suffix, the change will apply to new charges going forward. Past statement lines on donors' accounts do not rewrite themselves.
CoolFocus does not have a self-serve setting for this customization. You will need to contact our support team for assistance.
1. Decide the short text you want donors to see after JFI* (keep it within 22 characters, including spaces). Prefer a name donors already recognize—not an internal code or legal entity name they never see elsewhere.
2. Contact CoolFocus Support (in-app chat or your usual support path).
3. Tell us:
• Your organization name
• The exact custom text you want after JFI* (≤ 22 characters including spaces)
• A short note if donors are already confused or disputing charges
Support will email JustiFi with your center's JustiFi account ID and the requested descriptor. JustiFi applies the change for future transactions.
Tip: If a donor contacts you first, reassure them that CoolPay gifts often show with a
JFI*prefix from the payment partner, then match the amount and date to their gift in CoolFocus (contribution or payment record). Offer the updated statement wording once JustiFi has applied your request.
• A donor does not recognize the charge and fears fraud.
• A bank or card issuer flags the gift because the merchant name is unclear.
• Your organization rebrands or wants a shorter, clearer public name on statements.
