Some giving is more than a one-time contribution.
Use grants to track funding that may have a purpose, award period, or reporting expectation.
Use pledges when a donor promises future giving that your team wants to track.
A pledge record now opens with a compact detail header instead of a sidebar. The header shows, at a glance:
The donor's name, linked back to their donor record, and the donor's number.
The pledge name and, if one is set, the sponsored person.
Amount and remaining balance.
Start date and fund.
Frequency, for example Monthly, and the number of scheduled payments.
Source, the origin the pledge was recorded from.
An "Inactive" badge appears next to the donor's name when the pledge is no longer active. All of the pledge's details live under the Details tab now that the sidebar has been removed.
Use in-kind gifts for non-cash donations, such as goods or services.
Opening an in-kind gift record shows a compact detail header instead of the usual sidebar. The header includes:
The donor's name, linked to their donor profile
An "In-Kind" label and the gift description
Sponsored Person or Soft Credit, if one is set
Received Value, the value recorded when the gift came in
Sold Value and the date sold, if the item has since been sold

If your organization uses Material Support, in-kind gifts include a Linked Boutique Stock section that shows stock lots received into the boutique from that gift. Use the Receive into Boutique action to add donated items to your boutique inventory so clients can claim them with points.
How to receive an in-kind gift into the boutique:
Open the in-kind gift.
In the Linked Boutique Stock section, select Receive into Boutique.
Choose where to put the stock:
Existing boutique item - pick an item from your catalog.
New boutique item - enter a name to create a new catalog item that tracks inventory.
Enter the quantity to receive. Optionally add a lot number.
Select Receive.
What happens next:
The stock is added to Material Support and linked to the in-kind gift.
The lot is stamped as a donation and appears under Linked Boutique Stock on the gift.
Available quantity for the item increases in the boutique.
Notes:
You will only see Linked Boutique Stock and Receive into Boutique if the Material Support module is enabled for your organization.
Your user account must have permission to add boutique stock.
Pledges and in-kind gifts both include a Sponsored Person or Soft Credit field, the same field found on contributions and recurring contributions. Use it to recognize a person or organization other than the donor of record, for example an individual advisor behind a donor-advised fund gift, without changing who the recorded donor is. See Donors and Contributions for details.
Choose the page that matches what the donor actually gave or promised. This keeps reporting easier later.
