"Shouldn't the Center Overview, Care Net, New Clients, and Changed Minds reports all match?" No — and that's expected. Each report counts the right thing for its purpose; they're measuring slightly different questions. Here's why, so you can trust your numbers instead of second-guessing them.
The Care Net report is correct for Care Net purposes: it counts each new Case as a "new client." So a client who opens a case in January and another in December counts as two for Care Net. The Center Overview and New Clients reports count individual people, not cases — so the same person is counted once.
On the Center Overview, "Total Clients" splits into New and Repeat, and the two must add up to the total — so a person can't be in both. The moment a client has a second case within the period, Center Overview moves them to Repeat.
The standalone New Clients report doesn't have that constraint — it's a "pure" count of clients whose case number is 1 at any time in the range. That's why, over a long span, the New-Clients figure on the two reports can differ. Neither is wrong; they answer different questions.
Over a full year, a client can have multiple cases, which is what drives most of the "these don't match" moments — a person can shift from New to Repeat, or carry more than one Initial Intention. Shorter ranges (a month) rarely show this.
These sound similar but have different requirements:
Changed Minds requires the client's stated initial intentions (before her first counseling session) to be Abortion or Undecided, and then Parent/Adopt afterward. If she was assessed at-risk but said she was carrying, she is not a changed-mind client.
At-Risk Clients Carrying (Center Overview) ignores stated intentions and counts all clients assessed Abortion-Minded or Abortion-Vulnerable, regardless of what they said.
So the Center Overview number is often higher than Changed Minds — and Changed Minds won't include every at-risk client (only those who started Abortion/Undecided), which is the point: it credits the change, not the assessment alone.
Care Net → counts new cases as new clients.
Center Overview / New Clients report → count people.
Center Overview New vs. Repeat → New + Repeat must equal Total, so a second case = Repeat.
At-Risk Carrying → based on assessment; Changed Minds → based on stated initial intentions.
