Some events you want to know about the moment they happen; others are better as a once-a-day or once-a-week summary. For each event, the timing dropdown lets you choose Immediate, Daily, or Weekly.
Immediate — you're notified right away, within seconds of the event. Best for time-sensitive things like a new inbox message.
Daily — bundled into a single daily digest email each morning.
Weekly — bundled into a single weekly digest email, sent once a week.
A digest is one email that summarizes everything for that period instead of a separate email per event. Items are grouped by area and event, so a weekly digest might show "12 new contributions, 3 new volunteers" in one tidy message. Digests are great for activity you want to stay aware of without an inbox full of individual emails.
Timing applies to the email channel. A few things to know:
If you set an event to Daily or Weekly, you'll get it in the digest instead of an immediate email — not both.
In-app notifications always appear right away regardless of the digest setting, so nothing is delayed inside CoolFocus.
Digests are sent at fixed times (in UTC) — the daily digest goes out each morning and the weekly digest early in the week. The exact clock time depends on your time zone relative to UTC.
Urgent, act-now events (new/unassigned inbox messages) → Immediate, often with SMS.
"Nice to stay aware" events (new contributions, new people) → Daily or Weekly digest by email, plus In-App if you like.
